well in my world ther are two definitions of popular:
good popular: everyone knows u and likes u and u have a LOT of friends and everyone wants to be friends with u. U are super nice and social. u dont have to be pretty.
bad popular:very pretty and everyone knows them. jerks that hate anyone who is ugly and date a lot of guys and put on too much on makeup. they worry too much on how they look and will most usualy shop at abercrombie and fitch.
thats MY definition. i am neither. i am invisible to almost everyone. but i used to be the good popular in 3rd grade. however, only the bad popular seem to exist in middle school.

popular == crap. If it's popular, it's probably crap. The vast majority of people in the world have pretty bad taste, so if something's/someone's "popular", you have to look a little deeper into it to determine if that someone/something is for you. That is, unless you're satisfied with common crap in your life.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, be selective in your life about who you hang out with and what you spend your money on. Don't just do it because someone else tells you to do it. Develop your own sense of style, taste, and values. Don't be a sheep!!
