he has total disrgard for the audiences brain functions and her tries to disguise this by thumping them with noise and flashy images. Does this contempt for our intelligence make him the worst EVER?

Michael Bay is a very formulaic director that is why he get slagged off. Most if not all of his films you will see the stars and stripes in some form - look for them.

Judge Dread was directed by Danny Cannon, both of these directors are still working with the producer Jerry Bruckhimmer (one of the most successfull of all time). Michael Bay with films and Danny Cannon is doing the CSI tv series's.

Mr Bay may well be a bad director in some English/British eyes but he does get the money rolling in world wide - so in that aspect he is not the worst director beacuse people pay good money to see his films.

Absolutely not....

With the exception of the appalling Pearl Harbour, I don't think any of Michael Bay's films pretend to be anything more than noisy/flashy/high-octane action flicks. In fact, The Island was a damn fine effort.

If no-brainer popcorn movies annoy you, then don't go and see them!!

I've spent the past few years collecting cult horror films, and in comparison to some of these directors, Michael Bay is god!!

Check out anything by Jess Franco to see what I mean.

HECKS NO!!! Armageddon & Transformers 1 & 2 are freaking amazing!!! Plus The Island--have you seen that? That's my absolute favorite Michael Bay film. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. It's great. Hm... Most hated director... Don't have one!

He's pretty close to the top, and I'm a film buff and have seen my fair share of turkeys. Pearl Harbour was about the biggest load of historical inaccurate s h i t I've seen, Armageddon was just a joke and The Island was pretty close to pure Christmas Turkey and stuffing you could imagine. Yet, he's working on two more films, Transformers (2007) and Lego Knight's Transformers (2008). "Go", as my American friends would say, "figure."
