They have books at the library for Sunday school class ideas. They show the crafts and how they relate to the topics. Some also have the Bible story listed so that you have it all in one spot.

Is there an adult at the church with experience that can help you with this? Sometimes it is hard for a 13 year old to "boss" a 12 year old. If you make the older kids your helpers they may cooperate more because they will feel important and useful. You could even give them some tasks at the very beginning like helping to trace some shapes or cut some things out.

Sing songs. The little kids should get into this. The B-I-B-L-E is a good one that the kids try to sing in a loud voice. Little kids would like it.

Remeber to keep it simple for the little ones. But if the older ones are helping it can be a little more involved.

Good luck.

You don't say how many kids.

Divide them up into 3 groups. 4-6, 7-9, 10-12.

Have a story ready each week for age groups. Get the 10-12 yrolds to help you withthe 4-6 group.

Start off by reading a story. Then have an age appropriate craft project (keep story in mind) for the last half of class. You could also do a question/answer discussion type of thing after story. Do NOT spend the time filling them up on junk food. Kids can go 1-2 hours without being fed.

Get some colored construction paper, sissors, tape, glue, string, paper plates, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, washable markers, pencils. go to your local Dollar Tree, they seem to have a lot of this type of stuff. (look in the coloring book ailse for religious pics you can copy/trace.....

WOW! How many? Use your older kids lead the others. You might consider crafts for the younger while the older ones put together a puppet show then show it in the last part of your time.

One of my math teachers in high school, Mrs. Pomeroy, and this advice to any of her students who were considering a job in education:

First, get your students to FEAR you.

It cuts down on disciplinary problems and disruptions in class. You can always work on your teaching technique later; but you've got to make it clear that you are in COMPLETE control before your students can start to learn.

Maybe separate them by age. Have toys and crafts for the younger ones, and maybe Bible word searches for the older ones.
