I am really short on money right now, does anyone know if the dollar tree test works? If not, how much is it at planned parenthood to take a test there?

I am on birth control, but the symptoms are there-my husband and I are worried, we just had a surprise baby this past march from just fooling around.

That is how I found out I was pregnant! We went to the Dollar Tree and got 2 tests...they both came out positive! I went to planned parenthood, and they did a test for free. Good luck!

I've heard that the dollar pregnancy tests are just as effective as the expensive ones. They are sometimes a little more complicated so just make sure you read the directions. For the most part, planned parenthood will be mostly free for you to test, they are out to help those who are strapped for cash. I hope you get the answer you seek. In March we thought we were pregnant (I am now 9 weeks pregnant) and I totally freaked out trying to figure out how we were going to afford having a baby. When I found out I wasn't pregnant (or had a miscarriage, not sure on this one) I was so depressed and cried for days that we ended up not being pregnant. We decided to try this summer and were lucky on our first real try :)

I would go to planned parenthood. As a matter of fact I did go, the only question I was asked was if I planned to continue with the pregnancy. A quick Yes or No and your outta there No judgment no lectures. The tests here are $16 but payment is also based on ability to pay ( they gave me a coupon for a free test even after I pulled out the checkbook). Check with your Health and Welfare department, they may have a woman's clinic that tests for free or based on income. By going to Planned parenthood or one of the other clinics, at least you know for sure and you saved yourself a buck.

My wife purchased one of the tests from a Dollar Tree and it came up negative. A $12 test from CVS came up negative as well. It looks like the ones at dollar tree are the same thing you can buy at other places for upwards of $10 or so - they may just be a little past their expiration date, but ours seemed to work fine. Of course, none of the available tests are 100% accurate, but they're all pretty close.

i used a dollar test with one of my pregnancies it was + but it was light and seemed to take a Lil longer to show up then a regular test but it did work i was early pregnant. Wal mart brand test are only 4 dollars I'd try that if the dollar test is - also look in your phone book for crisis pregnancy centers they will test 4 free as will some other women's clinics planned parent test 4 free to i think

Look up any local free clinic
like a pregnancy crisis center, a women's shelter or even a faith-based organization in your community. Planned Parenthood also gives free pregnancy tests. Explain to the workers at any of the agencies, and they will be able to help you.

You don't have to go to either. There are alot of Doctors (OB/GYNs' too) that have free pregnancy tests on certain days. I'd call around to different physicans and see. Hope things work out for you.

PS: The Dollar Tree test didn't work for me. The Dollar Tree came out - and the Wal-Mart one came out +. I'm 38 weeks pregnant.

I have had one child and am pregnant with my second and both times I used Dollar store pregnancy tests. They were possitive and the expensive tests from the grocer were neg. so yes they work.
