No, I don't think every family should have a dog. A dog is a huge committment. They need to have regular vet visits (which can get expensive), they need to cared for if the family goes away on vacation (again,can be expensive) They need lots of love and attention, if the family is really busy with out of the home commitments, they dog will suffer. If the family stays home and can committ to caring for the dog, then yes they should get a dog if everyone chips in with caring for, walking, feeding, grooming and cleaning up after it.

i think every family should have a cat.... but if i was going to say every family should have a dog i would pick a pit. before you get all up in arms about how vicious and mean pits are you have never truly been around a pit that has been treaten with the care, respect and love it deserves. my boyfriend and i have a pit and the most vicious thing she will do is lick you to death and jump all around when you come in the house. now if that's the kind of dog you think should be registered or banned you need to think again and actually come in contact with more than just the pit on the corner that has been chained up all it's life.

i've dealt with one too many families that can't take care of any animal let alone a dog and dealt with many sitations where the dog was abused, left alone, barking for 10 hours a day so on.
no... not every family.

I think so, but that is only because I love dogs. I love Boxers they are usually good with kids.

No. Too many families are dysfunctional and someone would abuse the dog, hurt it, torture it, starve it, "just for kicks"
