Frog, because lizards can carry salmonella.

Turtles and newts have aquaria maintenance issues- and turtles especially require heating, lighting, filtration, etc. because they are pretty messy.

Box turtles and tortoises are less messy but all turtles (and indeed most reptiles) need rather elaborate set-ups to provide the heat, light, etc. they need. Once the set-up is good, the day to day cares for lizards and tortoises are similar in many ways.

All amphibians and reptiles take a good amount of care. Quite often they require a good bit of special equipment just to maintain their health. Any animal that hatches from an egg can carry salmonella. You may want to consider an aquarium full of fish rather than any of these wonderful critters if you are looking for something a bit less hands on.

Turtle's make amazing pets, they're harmless, energetic, and watching them swim around is even fun. But I wouldn't classify them as 'easy to care for', so you should probably rule them out. They need a heat lamp, their water should be changed anywhere from once a month as a baby to atleast every half month when they're bigger. A water heater is also a good idea if you're house is air conditioned (water should be about 80°F). It's also a good idea to take them outside once in a while, unless you have a UVB light. hope that narrows down your choices :P

The frog and newt need wet climates which make clean up a soggy mess. go with a lizard of hot/sandy origin

Really depends on whether you want something to look at or something to hold/play with.
