That is a very good question. It all has to do with viewership and market share to CBS. Katie has the looks and the news anchor experiment thing is still in it's infancy. I wish I could make that much money. Katie Couric is hot.

Ridiculous isn't it !! I mean is the Today Show's ratings didn't plummet now did they without Ms. Perky Couric? I like Katy but why do they pay her so much money? That is BS :)

An anchor is an important part of television news, so they have to be paid accordingly. Also, she is an anchor on a top national show.

She isn't being paid for being a news anchor, she is being paid for being famous. If she were just a news anchor she wouldn't have been hired at CBS for the evening news.

Looks, charm, etc. Personally, I don't think she's worth that much; probably as much as a regular, local news anchor for any U.S. city.
