does the use of castor oil really help to induce labor who has done it has it worked and how much to use?

who has done it has it worked and how much to use when doing it. I have been having major contractions for the last for days I am at my due date and I don't want to wait any longer. I have heard that castor oil helps to induce the labor what else can I do?

What ever you do don't use the castor oil!!!!! Unless you want to spend your next two days on the potty. If you are already having contractions then walk walk walk. Sex also helps. There is a chemical in semen that helps make you efface faster. Good luck and happy laboring!! You can also take evening primrose oil but I wouldn't waist my money if you are contracting already.

I did everything i could to induce my third baby including Castor oil. I drank almost the whole bottle and i was in the bathroom for 2-3 days with the runs and really bad cramps. You know we really never now exactly when we conceive therefore our due date may be off and I'm sure you are aware of that so my point is that the baby will come when it is ready. I so regret taking that Castor oil i will not do that with this pregnancy. I know pregnancy can be so hard towards the end but just hold in there she/he will come when they are ready, on all my three births my midwife would tell my not to try and induce labor because it is more painful than going into labor naturally. Walk and have lots of sex is what i would recommend, good luck and God bless you all:)

I'm 38 weeks and I just recently tried castor oil. It didn't work. I didn't even get the runs. I used 3 tablespoons in a 6 oz glass of tea. Depending on how far along your are, ask your doctor about evening primrose oil. Don't try to induce yourself unless you are over 38 weeks. Plus, anything you try won't work unless your body and the baby are ready. Good Luck!!

Please don't do anything crazy to induce labor. I understand that the contractions are painful and you are ready to have the baby, but doing things like taking castor oil or whatever else people may suggest to you may cause problems for the baby. If you want to induce labor, talk to your doctor about it. Your doctor can do it safely if it is needed.

I can honestly tell you that all castor oil will do is give you the runs. I tried that, plus going up and down stairs, being driven over bumpy roads and fast down steep hills. If you are at your due date and don't want to wait any longer then go to your doctor and tell him. He can check a few things make sure every things alright, and then induce your labor himself.

My Mom and my wife both did it and it worked. Two tablespoons of castor oil in a tall glass of orange juice. This combination seemed to be a source of forcing the issue twice with my mother and twice with my wife. My wife only tried it twice, both times had to be taken in within two to three hours after and delivered within an hour of reaching the hospital. Coincidence? Who knows. It seemed to work for them. i have used caster oil twice. the first time it didnt work but the second time i used it and went bowling and had my daughter in 3 hours with the nicest delivery i ever thought i would have. also if this is your first baby try not to get induced it is so much worse than natural. i was in pain for hours. and i had bad side effects. try bowling it has worked on every pregnacy in my family. good luck

my cousins wife drunk some castrol oil before and went into labor the day that she drunk it, you will need to drink at least a half of the bottle with something to chase it with cuz it taste aweful.........

dont use it i have done it twice got false labor pains the were not doing anything to my cervix very nasty to drink for no reason

It will make you sick, and give you the runs. and it doesnt really work.

using your brest pump for an hour or so for a couple days works MUCH better.
