Has the laptop been dropped, struck, or otherwise damages lately? It sounds like your screen is broken.

Have you gone to Control Panel, Display, and checked the settings to make sure that none have accidentally been changed?
Or, just right click a blank space on the screen and go to properties, and check it under Settings.

try holding power button to shut down, start again will have to scan /fix links if not shut down normaly and take out battery try again.
