I've read To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, and The Outsiders. What are some good books to read for a 10th grader?

I have been looking into the same thing (since I'm a 9th grader) and I have found that you first should find out your lexile range at school before picking out books. You wouldn't want to read a book to much higher or too much lower than your lexile range. But if you have a bit of a higher lexile range like I do then I would suggest thicker more difficult books, but not too difficult. Find something to read that is comfortable for your learning. But some good books that I have read that you might like are the Pendragon book series, Uglies, Pretties, Great Expectations, and more. There are many books that you could read. Just take a look and see what you like.

before i give you suggestions i have to say you have read some awesome books - the outsiders is one of the best works of young adult literature that i have read and really enjoyed.

Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger is an amazing book - we actually read it in 11th grade an when we were done we watched a movie, i believe, called Ordinary People. its from the 80's era and mary tyler moore is in it. it has so many similarities to the book and it portrays the conflict on the screen so you can really see in your mind what Holden (the main character in Catcher in the Rye) really goes through - HOWEVER i would not reccomend seeing the movie first, it totally ruins the book to watch a movie first.

other good books are;
Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
The Old Man & The Sea by Ernest Hemmingway
Night by Elie Wiesel (sp.?)

if your up for it i read some really great books last year (11th) that if your reading skill is in that area you should def. read:

The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt

I am also a 10th grader. ^^ I have read some awesome books.

The Crucible - Arthur Miller

Night - Elie Wiesel

Stargirl - (I'm afraid I have forgotten the author. :( )

And lots of Shakespere. ^_^ I have just found these to be extremely interesting, especially "Night."

In any case, good luck finding a good read!
