I want to thank everybody who answered my nebula question. No wonder I couldn't find the name of earth's nebula on Google. No, I wasn't confusing nebula with anything else... I swear!

As others have mentioned, the "Solar System" is called the "Solar System". The reason for this is that the star at its center is called "Sol" (our sun). Other star systems would have different names based on their root star. For example, the star system around Alpha Centauri would be called the Centauri System.

Our solar system is technically a star system, reffered to as the "Solar System" after the sun, a.k.a. Sol. The system around another star would be named after that star in the same way.

It has no name, other than, "The Solar System". It is like "The Moon" or "The Sun" that way. Titan is a moon of Saturn and Polaris is the name of a distant sun, but Earth's moon is just "The Moon" and Earth's sun is just "The Sun", so our solar system is just "The Solar System".

I have never heard it called anything else but the solar system. If we were outside looking at it, I guess we'd call it the Sun system.
