Times Square, named after the one-time headquarters of The New York Times, is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan, New York City, USA which centers on 42nd Street and Broadway. It is not a square of physical space like Red Square or Tiananmen Square (In the United States, a city 'square' typically refers to a road intersection in a built-up commercial/residential urban locale - this usage is similar to the French term place). It consists of the blocks between 6th and 9th Avenues from east to west and 39th and 52nd Streets from south to north (40.75659° N 73.98626° W). It makes up the western part of the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan.

Traffic has been going on the for centuries. Eventually the people got out of their cars and built building to live in. When you go to time square, if you think your in traffic, you not. All the cars in front of you have been parked for years. They're in the homes they built. Great story huh? =]
