Because it's FAST. Cooking food fast is the unhealthiest way of cooking; and the fastest form of cooking in flash-frying. It's been proven that deep frying potatoes unleashes a certain chemical that can be linked to cancer, whether the oil has trans-fats or not.
Also MSG and other additives turn what might taste like a brick into something more palatable. Then add a non-nutritional,sugar filled drink to the lot, and you have a menu for diaster.
But the worst thing is to eat that stuff on a regular basis. When McDonald's and Burger King first came out, it was meant to be used on a weekly basis in tandem with regular home cooking. Now a days, people eat once or twice a day there. Moderation is the key.

Largely because fast food is made of cheap, processed ingredients, and is often deep-fried.
That is not to say that restaurant food is healthy: it often contains a large amount of fat, sugar and salt, and the portions are well over those recommended for one person. However, restaurant food is normally made of fresh ingredients which is better than fast food any day.
Do remember that diet is all about balance. There is nothing wrong with eating what we like from time to time, as long as we eat fresh fruit and veg!

It's not necessarily. In fact, most fast food now lists their nutritional information on their web site. Most restaurants do not do this. So while you can tell how much salt or fat is in fast food, you often have no idea how much is in restaurant food.
Some restaurants note the expense of having their food examined in a lab. But some do it anyway. And the ones that do, show comparable nutritional info to fast food.

Alot of fast food is deep fried. French fries, fish, crispy chicken, etc. At a regular restaurant, a person can order a steak, grilled products, baked potatoes, veggies, etc. that a fast food restaurant does not serve.

i work in a fast food restaurant and the food if it isn't eaten it sit's there till it dose get eaten sometimes. the donutes they end up getting so dried out that it's so gross to eat them when you want them. and then the soups are pree cooked and then re-heated so that's kind of gross too and then they get really thick skins on them too after a while. but McDonald's is probably the worst. when they change there drip trayes for there hamburgers the drip tray is so full of greece and somethings you don't want to even know about. the food is so greecy and most of the time not even warm.

Most food from fast food restaurants are fried, and frying takes most of the original nutrients out of whatever was fried. Plus most of these foods are processed or made with refined sugars, flours and tons of salt, which are unhealthy for you. If you get a salad, it is likely that they clean the leaves in a water/bleach solution.

Is it? Because I think that a restaurant meal can be just as unhealthy as a fast food meal. The only difference is appearance I believe so.

Typically higher content of salt and usually fat, often saturated, and calories as well.
I found a GREAT website that lets you search the nutritional content of popular fast food restaurants by categories such as total fat, saturated fat, sodium, total calories, etc. Check it out below. After looking at the numbers, I think you'll have a pretty good idea why fast food is typically considered less healthy than other food sources!

Because fast food has way more additives and preservatives to keep the food from spoiling so fast as it's shipped all over the world.
Restaurants usually use mostly fresh ingredients.
