Here is an example:
Lynne Cheney, wife of Bush's Vice President Dick Cheney, has been not just a member, but a board member of the Independent Women's Forum, a radical anti-feminist group that opposes pay equity, blaming what it characterizes as women's biological differences for the lower pay that women receive in comparison to men.
Another:
With George W. Bush in the White House, Don Davis, a Republican state representative in North Carolina sent a letter to every member of the North Carolina House and Senate, containing the following passage: "Two things made this country great: White men & Christianity. The degree these two have diminished is in direct proportion to the corruption and fall of the nation. Every problem that has arisen (sic) can be directly traced back to our departure from God's Law and the disenfranchisement of White men." When we elect a Republican to the White House, we support a Republican Party that embraces opinions like this.

Come on!! If Bush wanted to just make women or people of color "token" appointments, why would he put them in such positions of power as those he has around him? That is not token by any stretch of the imagination!

I dare you to cite examples where he has shown anything BUT respect for them.

Response to Michelle: No, when you elect a Republican to the White House, you allow free speech among your party members...even when it does not reflect your viewpoint. However, when a Democrat dares to speak against the party line he is ostracized and driven out of office....example: Joe Lieberman.

Any appointment I name you will say is a token appointment. Liberals cannot lose an argument because they always have an excuse for why something is as it is. It is pointless to argue with you people. Even if I cite the numerous appointments of women and blacks by George Bush who are not in prominent political positions but in integral managerial positions you will simply brush them off as tokens. Even the blacks appointed to key jobs by Bush in Texas would not matter to you.

I have no reason not to. I assume what you would call "token appointments" would be any black or woman who was willing to serve in his administration, including those in the line of succession to the Presidency..

What examples do you have that make you question it?

I would compare his treatment of women and blacks to the treatment received by former occupants of the office as well.

I think it's possible that he sees certain women and minorities as his equals, on an individual level. There are enough people of color and women in his cabinet and at high levels of agencies support this conclusion.

But there's a disconnect when it comes to his policies for larger groups of people. Basically these policies are reverse Robin Hood - money and benefits flow to to white, rich, males, and large corporations while draining the middle class; and leaving needy non white victims without shelter, adequate food or medical care.

Every appointment any president makes of minorities or women could be viewed as tokens.

How about you cite examples where he has not?

....still waiting

That's like saying "cite examples of someone not doing something wrong". How nutball can you be?
If you have a accusation, YOU cite examples of something that he did to make you believe this. You don't ask for examples the other way around.

First, 'white ' is not a color because it lacks pigment! Since tanned skin does have pigment then can white -skinned folks not reside at the morgue?
Second to insinuate that "W' hates women causes two branches of thought to pop up: (one) He never loved his mother =false! (two) He is not heterosexual=False! Third the use of the term "equal" is sooo misused these days; were you groping for distrustful or inept! but couldn't grasp inferior with both hands? Pleaszze you left out Old, parental units! ( Let's play copycat y'all!) His 'views' are harmless compared to liberal's opinions!

"Informed", huh?

Where were YOU when Bush appointed Condoleeza Rice Secretary of State (that's a twofer in case you've been away for a REALLY long time).

And, if you think Condi is a "token", as you so charmingly put it, then I urge you to keep on believing it. There is NOTHING so wonderful as being underestimated by one's political opponents.

Just ask Dubya!!!

Check out his secretary of state and attorney general. Those aren't token appointments. He relies on these people and allows them great latitude in their decision making.
