There is no way to get rid of it, however there are a lot of good ways of helping it clear up that little bit faster, or at very least make you feel better;

-Drink lots of water.
-Drinking hot ginger tea.
-Drinking hot cinnamon tea.
-Increase in vitamin C.
-Lots of rest – avoid work.
-Keep warm and take warm baths.
-Breathing in steam with eucalyptus.
-Keep hands clean – use antibacterial gel.
-Spray your home with disinfectant.
-Take Echinacea daily until the cold is gone.
-Eat more garlic or use garlic tablets.
-Take olive leaf extract capsules.
-Avoid raw sugar, wheat and dairy.
-Eat more spicy foods.
-Take zinc to help your immune system.

For the cold
You can try echinacea, you can get it from any good health store, it increases the bodies immune system naturally and helps the body fight off the infection must more quickly. You can also try boiling water and adding lemons and a little sugar and simmering in a pan for a couple of hours, just top up the water, it has plenty of vitamin C and the water will help the body fight off any toxins, the sugar will also give you some energy.

For the sore throat
Make a mug or black tea or boil some water and add a spoon of honey this will lubricate your throat and take away the aches.

For the headache
have a hot steaming bath with lavender oil and eucalyptus as this will open your sinuses and clear your airways, this will relive your headache...coughing can also give you a headache so having honey tea will sort this out as well

Hope they work for you, feel better!

Aside of pacing yourself and getting more rest, squeeze half a lime into a glass of water and drink it. Have one of these every morning.

If you have a sore throat or a cough coming on, drink camomile tea twice a day, with two teaspoons heaped with honey in them and avoid talking as much as possible.

Another thing you might find helpful is grating two or three fresh tomatoes into a bowl (without the skin), crush a clove of garlic, mix it in, and eat it like soup.

There is also the Russian way: pour yourself a shot of Vodka, mix some black pepper powder, drain the shot and GO TO SLEEP. This works too, but you must only have the one, and go to sleep afterwards.

The truth is there is no treatment for you. Drink lots of fluids. Drink lemsip just before you jump into your Duvets. If you walk to work and work alone in your office there is no need for you to stay at home go to work mate and keep the economy marching forward. Who knows you may be better in the morning.

Sorry once you get a cold there isn't really a cure for it as its caused by a virus and like all viruses it has to run its course. You could take some lemsip, paracetamol and lozenges to try and make you feel better. I think you would be better to stay at home until you feel better as you will most likely just pass the cold onto your workmates. Hope you feel better soon. : )

My Gran used to say that a cold lasted about 10 days, about 3 days to come, 3 days to have it and 3 or 4 days for it to get better. All you can do it take things to ease the symptoms and once it has gone, take a garlic and parsley capsule once every day and you will never get another cold.

Haha...as soon as you feel a cold coming on, take some Airborne, or the equivalent. And, I think you should take a day off! Enjoy your day under the duvet...

Yes, go to a health food store and purchase echinecea tincture. Take the dosage on the bottle every three hours until you have finished the bottle. (This means waking up during the night to take it). This can usually knock a cold out of your system by stimulating your immune system if you start taking it at the first symptoms. Any herbalist can confirm this.
