Yes I believe that they are aware on some level. I would also encourage your to look at www.bodytalksystem.com with regards to treatment for people in comas. The process is called "balancing the cortices" and is very effective in bringing people out of comas.

Definately yes. You can hear what people are saying but you do not have enough energy to respond to them. Even if you try to talk words seem not to come out of your mouth. Next time be carefull what you say. If you work in a hospital or visit someone in hospital who is in a coma they are most likey to hear you. A friend of mine critised a boss who was in a coma and was taken to task when the boss recovered. Do not learn the hard way.

Yes, they can I am sure. My mother died from Cancer in the early 1990's, and for about six weeks before she died she was in a coma. About a week before she died she pulled out of the coma for about three days and was able to talk and eat small pieces of food. At one point she talked about something that I said to my father whilst she was in the coma.

I think that the person's subconcious is aware of people around them whilst in a coma even though the person may not remember anything when they wake up. It's a bit like having a dream, your subconcious is aware of it but it becomes very hazy and difficult to remember.

yes they can at certain stages of a coma. Its the last sense to go and 1 of the first to return. My brother was in a coma for a month and when he came round fully he recognised his nurses voices and could repeat parts of conversations they had had between themselves. We also would play his fav music to him, which he also remembers.

friend of main been in coma for a week ( something with kidney) so i did ask her about that experience couple of years after. She told that she cannot remember that her parents was talking, that her boyfriend was there or anything but she did had a presence of somebody caring for her. At the beginning after she couldn't remember much but she is determinate that if nobody talk or been there with her she probably couldn't make it

I've always heard that hearing is the last thing to go... be it when someone is dying or in a coma. You never know what they can or can't hear. I always talked to my patients that weren't responsive.

yes i do

when i was little i was told the story of my grandpa's brother being in coma..my grandma was by his bedside, and she talked to him and watched them respond it wasn't much but it was a sign to her..so when i grew up hearing this story i believed -he had a brain tumor-

My great grandpa had a stroke and couldn't talk but i as a little girl remembered this story and rubbed his forehead and sung to him and my family thought it was special but i also felt he was listening and paying attention...

If you can give them a little comfort somehow or someway and let them know you love them i do not see what it would hurt even tho they are in coma
