I heard that the first charge must be longer than usual ones. Is that true?

Given battery technology these days, 12 hrs seems excessive. I just got a Motorola V325 and its first charge was no more than 15 minutes. Compared to the four hrs to fully charge my old V60, it is a snap.

Your phone is probably using lithium battery technology, which don't suffer from the memory effects that nickel cadmium batteries exhibit. So I wouldn't worry about that, either.

And while most good battery chargers are able to stop charging a battery after it's fully charged, it's a good idea to unplug your phone once it's fully charged.

Yes
But after the first full charge, be sure to use it and drain it completely before recharging.
And after that dont keep it on charge all the time, like I did.
And then I had to buy a new battery, because it got swollen.:-(
