As the old saying goes: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." The beauty in art touches the observer on an individual basis and is interpreted by the observer's own understanding. What may actually be a beautiful piece of art may not be considered as such by another individual. Likewise, what some people may consider trash may be considered by others as a beautiful piece of art.

Well, what do you consider "truly good art"? Do you consider that the paint splattering that takes somebody a good five minutes art? I don't. I consider the sort of thing I do, which takes hours and hours of meticulous work and concentration to be good art. I appreciate that talent in other people. It's all in the eye of the beholder. You can't define anything as 'good' because 'good' is an opinion, not a fact. I'll take Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael and Michael Whelan over somebody that paints a square on a white canvas and calls it "art."

It all depends on what you think really good art is. How can you judge someone for an opinion on something? How can you not appreciate the differences in people when it comes to art?

It depends of what kind of good art you are talking about. There are good arts that above the surface and there are good arts that beneath the surface. As what we says that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder but we can't judge the viewer of your art to says his/her opinion to appreciate your art. Let the viewer to have his own opinion of your art. Accept what they say to you at least at your said you will know that the next time you have to improve and make challenge with them that you have improve more, for the next time around. But hey make positive for your work and accept the fact that some people thinks positive for some good kind of art.

The same reason some men find Angelina Jolie to be repulsive, or the same reason some women find Tom Cruise to be a super-hottie... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To you it might be art, but to me it might look one step away from the trash can. It's part of the beauty of being human... free thought.

Because the majority of people are not terribly bright or cosmopolitan (just take a look at this Yahoo site). We accept mediocrity today in art, theater, singers, movies, and a whole list of other things.

The only reason art is what it is, relies fully on expression. And anyone knows that expression is subject to partiality. Art is going to appeal to some and repulse others. Without that ability, art would not be as interestng as it is.

Different people have different views about things, and so appreciate them differently. For every person who likes one piece of art, there is at least one who doesn't. It's all about the differing perceptions of beauty.

"Good art" is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure that many people do appreciate what is commonly known as good art, or it wouldn't be called that. Please allow people to be their own judges of what they appreciate.
