It's my cousins wedding in the beginning of October, in Massachusetts. Is this dress ok, as in - is it ok to wear black to a wedding? Will it be too cold? etc. Thanks!

Oh and it is a late afternoon / evening wedding.

No, I'm not a bridesmaid.

I'm going to a wedding in two weeks and wearing a similar dress. I'm looking for a cover-up in case it is chilly. I say go for it.

Peggy Post: "It is now acceptable for female guests to wear black to weddings, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Black choices, however, should be more ornate than reserved, to give off an air of celebration rather than mourning. Sometimes, adding a little color (vibrant flower pins and scarves work wonderfully for weddings) rounds off the somber look well."

For the time of day that the wedding is being held, you want something a little more dressy. Black is acceptable now for weddings, so don't worry too much about color (unless it's white). You will also want something that is a little warmer. Try a longer dress/skirt and look at good wraps and jackets to throw on just in case.

If you like the Kimono look, try these instead.

Any of those would be easier to dress up for a wedding and still be wearable for another event.

Good Luck!

The dress is nice. I have something similar although i probably would not wear it to a wedding. If you do, you need to add your own personal style to it. Eg. a thin black belt - or white if you want it to stand out. I also think an up hair do will bring out the dress more. Enjoy the wedding.

Depends entirely on what you know about your cousin. Wearing black is fine, but I think that dress is too casual -- looks like a big shirt. Don't get me wrong - it's very pretty, but I don't think it's formal enough... on the other hand, it might be that kind of wedding. Only you can know... why do you care what complete strangers on the internet think about a dress you've picked out anyway?

It's ok to wear black, especially for that time of day. You might want to have something to wrap around your shoulders in case it's chilly, although if the wedding and reception are both indoors, you could get by without it. Have fun!

Yeah! That dress is cute & fun. I think it will be fine for a wedding. Although, I don't know about the weather. I live in AL, so it's still kinda hot down here in Oct. I am unsure how cold it is in Mass. in Oct. Good luck!

its OK to wear black to a wedding, it might be a bit cold for it, but if the wedding is inside, then maybe it will be OK. its hard to how the dress would look though - u would have to try it on to see if it flatters your figure.

It's ok to wear black to an evening wedding. I wouldn't wear it to a day wedding tho.

the dress is really cute but it looks very summery and casual. Looks good for a nice restaurant but no sure about a wedding.
