The better question is what caused so many millions of people to vote for a person who promised to kill people and to destailize the federal budget like never before? One might argue that the American people have gotten exactly what they voted for - a "shrivelled up brain" as Commander in Chief.

I think the people who use cocaine and are alcoholics are the ones who tend to have prune sized brains and misjudge Bush.

I don't think his ignorance is caused by either one. They might have affected his intelligence in a negative way, but ignorance is generally caused by a profound lack of curiosity and experience. In this case, I think those are your main reasons.

Well its a vicious cycle first the ignorance got him into cocaine and alcohol then they made him dumber so he used more and then got dumber then used more and became really stupid and became a republican.

The fact that he has been literally handed everything to him his entire life and told what to do and never had to suffer any reprocussions for his actions is what has made him ignorant. He's been bred for this job...he's not really the one in control...that's Dick Cheney.
