In laboratories, mice or guinea pigs and sometimes even other animals are used as "research material". Do you think we as humans have the right to perform such an act in the name of science? For our own advancement, perhaps?

A "right" is conferred by law, and obviously the various labs have the right or the authorities would make them stop what they're doing. Now, is it humane? Assuredly not. Is it morally, for lack of a better word, correct? Perhaps, in some cases, if using animals as test subjects to develop new and/or more effective medicines. To do so in the manufacture of cosmetics, certainly not. Like a lot of current issues, there's just no simple answer.

Yes.
First, consider testing of new pharmaceuticals. The testing of insulin was done on dogs. Many human lives were prolonged as a result of the discovery of insulin!

Second, consider training. Some surgical training can be done on human cadavers, of course. But still, I'd rather be operated on by a brain surgeon who'd practiced using a bone saw on something that had to survive the operation.

Even the Bible gives us dominion over the birds and the beasts. I hope that we'll always use it wisely.

We eat them and wear their skin and make all kinds of things from animals. What is the difference? Personally I try to limit my consumption of animal products but I still consume them. I try to purchase products that are not tested on animals. That's fine for shampoo but any time I purchase prescription medication it's been tested on animals. Honestly I don't know. My heart tells me it's not right to cause suffering to an animal. Animals we kill for food are supposed to die quickly and humanely but often hey don't. It's the suffering that bothers me. If the animals died a quick death it wouldn't bother me so much. But animal research has had enormous benefits for us. I just don't know. I do think it should be eliminated where ever it can be.

Yes, we do. It is important to find new medicines, new treatments and new surgery techniques to help people. Rodents aren't people, and should not be considered their equals or as having some rights that only apply to people.

Same with all test animals who are used to help advance human medicine.

In my view, the death of 10,000 animals to save the life of my kid would be a very small price to pay.

convinced. Such experiments were used to develop insulin. Even today, horses are the regular source of the drug. The tens of millions of diabetics who've lead healthful, satisfied lives in view that then are more beneficial than adequate justification to finish such experiments on animals. to boot, McDonalds and different quick food eating places have served billions or products made out of animals that were killed in slaughterhouses. Ever been to a slaughterhouse? even with claims on the opposite, they're a concepts from "humane" because the animals all understand they're about to die. in case you eat animal products, you're taking section in a concepts more beneficial carnage than clinical experiments ought to ever produce. in case you do not eat animal products, you should acquire Thiamine from pills made out of animals. or you'll develop a Thiamine deficiency ("BeriBeri") and die. Arbitrarily picking between the various sorts of slaughtering animals with a view to help a political time table is hypocrisy.

Yes. I think God created us to find out who HE is and how he became what he is. Eventually, humans could evolve into a God like creature, anything is possible. In the name of science, in the name of discovery, we must do what we can, to learn more about ourselves and advance, evolve. We are the dominant race, it's our right. And besides, does it really bother you that much if a few million rats were tested on if it was meant to better our lives?

Yes, because in the Bible God put man in charge of all the creatures of the Earth.

In Genesis it says, "Let them (man & woman) have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground."

no, that would be a moronic thing to think. it would be the equivalent of saying, "I killed John Doe because he got in the way of my advancement with our firm." or, "I killed Jane Doe because I needed her heart for my son."

it's funny how people say it's okay to "use" animals for advancement of the human race, for survival, perhaps; but, when people start sacrificing animals in the name of religion, those people who were for advancement are now against the usage of animals in religious sacrifices. hypocritical? bottom line, it never is ethical.

humans may give themselves that right; but that doesn't necessarily make what they do right or moral. but in due time, theirs will come. karma will get them...

Yes I feel we have that right.

If there are other ways around hurting the animals then by all means take that high road. But if it is to find a cure for some terrible disease than by all means.............
