Could be a tooth, 6mths is a little young. It could be a cyst. My son had that, Dr says it is common. Teeth don't usually show white until they have completly cut through, then youwill feel the edge.

It's a tooth. Try those teething rings that you can put in the frig --cause they are filled with jel/water. I quit nursing my daughter at 6 months because she did the same thing, started to get a tooth, and thought that I was the teething ring--OUCH! The hardest thing may be getting the child to take to the bottle if you've only breat fed--but the baby may enjoy trying to chew at the bottle as well as drinking from it. Good luck--and in 6 years, you'lll be taking pictures of that tooth as it will be the first one the child looses!

Babies respond to teething in various ways and with my 16 months old daughter, each tooth is even a different experience! The very first tooth is particularly uncomfortable for a baby and might even lead to a high fever.Calpol however takes good care of it.I used to read about anything concerning baby's development and growth,i wanted to be sure about everything.I have finally come to the conclusion that nature will eventually take its course and take care of everything almost all the time.Parents especially new ones like you and i need not to be be overly concerned simply because the crying gets to us.We feel too sorry for our babies but if you realize that they have overcome the greater challenge of pregnancy and labour, they are much stronger than we give them credit for. Moreover for that age(6 months old)apart from that odd smile and giggle, all babies really do is cry!

yeap, that's a tooth. Cutting the first tooth is the most painful. They have something called "teething tablets" or something.. forgot the exact name. It's like little white pills, comes in a little bottle. They melt in the mouth quickly, and numbs the gums.

Feel around his gums to see if you can feel anything. Most likely it is a tooth pushing through. Teething tablets help and there's also some baby orajel that you can use to help ease the pain.

Take your index finger and push down on the area. Usually u can feel it. Also babies tend to run a fever with cutting teeth...And tend to get very fussy...And age really isn't a big deal, my son had 2 bottom teeth by age 3 months...

Sounds like a tooth. Freeze some of his teething toys, let him suck on a wet rag & buy some of that baby orajel to numb his gums. It will be like this for all of his teeth, so get used to it & make sure your prepared.

I'd say he was getting his first tooth! They usually start on the bottom, in the middle (usually, not always). Can you feel them? You can usually feel a bump pushing through the gums before you can actually see it.
Good Luck

That sounds like teething. You can put a wet cloth in the freezer and then let him suck on it or you can try teething toys. My daughter liked spoons that had been in the fridge for awhile.
