It depends on what type of sorority and how interested in volunteering. I would suggest going to one meeting the first week, but letting the other group know your interested, and finding out what you missed. The next time, go to the other meeting and tell the first group that you are unable to attend but are still interested. This way you will have some idea first hand about the two. There are some very good sororities, and Habitat for Humanity is a great charity - ultimately find out first hand about the two then decide.

If you are a member of a sorority, I would have to say go to the Habitat meeting. Since sororities and their members tend to get a bum rap in many instances, it would be great to be a part of the solution by helping people to see that we do care about the community, by going to be of service. I am sure you sorority sisters would not have a problem with the positive way in which you are acting in the community. I especially believe that if your organization is a service oriented group that in service is where you should be. Finding out what took place at the chapter meeting will certainly not be hard for you to find out from another member or another candidate for membership. If you are not a member, then the service will certainly look good on your application for membership/ letter of interest.

Sorority meeting! Chances are that the sorority will have a group girls go help with habitat for humanity as community service....You can also join Habitat at any point and time but rushing a sorority only happens at certain times.

You might find out that greek life is not for you at the meeting so them email the habitat organizer and ask he/she if you can still be apart 99.9% they will say sure

Habitat for Humanity. I don't mean to be insulting, but the work you do through Habitat for Humanity makes a much bigger difference to the world than your sorority meeting. That's where I'd go, at least.

This is a perfect litmus test if you're thinking of joining a sorority. Call the sorority and tell them you really want to come to their meeting, but need to attend a HFH meeting that happens to be at the same time. Most of the better sororities like their members to be well-rounded and engage in volunteer activities. Its an incredibly important part of being a sorority sister - fraternities and sororities are expected by their chapter heads to volunteer for at least one cause per semester. If its a good one, you will be excused and it will make you look like the kind of woman they want in their membership.

If they get snarky, or say something like "we're not important enough to you" - stay away!!! They're going to be lousy.

Definitely call - its good manners and shows you care.
