Post codes are designed by the government. You do have the option to move to one you like better.

You certainly can, but I have to warn you, it's a lengthy process.
You need to get a petition together, signed by more than 50% of the affected coverage, all agreeing which postcode you would like in exchange.
If you get this far, you then need to persuade more than 50% of the current users of your new desired postcode to swap with you.
Then you all need to go to the Post Office sorting centre, and sign the relevant forms.

Ha, Postcode Snobbery eh?! Well your current neighbours are probably better off without you anyway, the only way to change your postcode is to move to another area.

I know people who have because most people do not know where one post code stops and another begins. If you live really close to the border, you could try.
Be ready for some mail to get lost or delayed. And eventually you might get a note from the post office telling you to make sure people sending you mail know your address.
