This is just out of curiousity, but I was wondering how people feel about this. I already have an opinion, but what's yours?

I oppose it, personally.

But more than that, I don't belive my personal beliefs -- or anyone else's personal beliefs -- should be enforced as a matter of law.

The thing about the abortion debate is that the two sides are arguing entirely unrelated issues. Pro-life people say "abortion is bad". Pro-choice advocates say "The government not should be making personal decisions that like". It's not about abortion. It's about who gets to make the decisions.

Face it -- someone is going to choose. It's either going to be the individual, or it's going to be the majority through enacted laws.

The concept of reproductive freedoms is not whether you agree with the individual choices being made. It's whether you think the government should have the right to take away and mandate those choices.

Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

I'm a male and I'm pro choice, but do I have the right to make this decision for a woman who has been raped, or some poor woman who is watching her other kids go hungry every night because she doesn't have enough money to feed them much less another mouth, or the young girl who has had her father or uncle have sex with her and is now pregnant, or the crack addict who knows her child will be born into a world where they will be at a disadvantage from the start or the young high school girl who is just starting out in life and because of a mistake her life has just become limited and the answer is No I don't have the right to make that decision for them and neither does anyone else escpecially the government.

It should be a choice...

If you think about it everyone of us came from a small egg, and when i think about it that way it makes me feel as if it would be cruel to deny my baby a life by aborting it.Thats just me.

But people listen, a baby can drastically affect lives.. and it should be the womens or parents choice. Sometimes, especially with young parents it might be foolish to think that having the baby may be the best idea even though the parents may not have the resources to support it .. in other words why would you bring a kid up of you cannot support it or provide a loving family/environment for it. Every case varies so thats why its good for people to have a choice.

Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Every abortion is wrong. If anyone doubts this, they need to take a look at:

I'm a woman and there is no "unexpected" pregnancy (other than rape). This whole "pro-choice" business, I think, is ridiculous. You made the choice when you dropped your pants. Now you want to take away the life of an unborn child b/c it inconveniences you...not cool. Like I said, rape is a whole other ball game, but when you let him in w/ out protection, don't be surprised when you become pregnant. It's not a big secret that that's how babies are made. And if you try and run the excuse that you're too young to raise a child, then you're too young to have sex. Sex makes babies, if you don't want a baby, don't have sex.

Pro-choice. I think sometimes there's a gap between what you believe you would do and what you actually do when a situation becomes reality. There are endless scenarios where a woman could be faced with that kind of decision and I'd hate to think that she couln't be the one making it.

It's ,plain and simple! There's a human being developing in the womb, not a blob of tissue as so many people want to brainwash pregnant women into believing. If your not pregnant, then there's no baby developing in the womb!

Personally, I oppose late term abortions.

I am not so much against abortions during the first trimester, as I realize that mistakes do happen, and my understanding is that embryos this young are not conscious nor do they feel pain.

It would not be my choice because I would always feel like I murdered my baby but I do not say bad things to people that I know have done it. That was there choice and unless they ask my opinion I keep it to myself because who am I to judge and I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings.
