It will be ready in about a week or 2. The fees will be cheaper than ebay, and the customer service will be better.
My question to you will be:- What would you like to see different? What sort of features would keep get you to sign up or stay? Would a reward system keep you there for every person you bring over? Also if you have any ideas please share them.

firstly good luck with your venture and i hope you do well but, have you looked at the legal side of your plan, you must be careful with what type of auction site you are setting up, it is so easy to fall foul of trading standard laws, consumer rights etc and indeed your own legal liabilities,
a number of people have tried to do this and come unstuck due to lack or research.
the reward system can be a good incentive but a lot of people are very wary due to the large amount of reward schemes other companies use and are quite worthless, if you make a reward scheme beneficial people will flock to your site, you should do well if you can protect your buyers and guarantee their security and safety, and can offer some kind of good customer service.
once again good luck.

its going to take a good reputation before other people join your site because of the popularity of ebay. i would firstly ask your friends and family to use the site and to recommend it to their friends and family because word of mouth is the best way of establishing something.

you have to have a glistening reputation to beat ebay.
