Do you mean you need to have math skills to get this job, or the job uses math? I mean a bus driver doesn't have to integrate derivatives on a daily basis, but he does have to look at a ticket and see if the transfer has expired (purchase time + transfer duration > current time).

A janitor mixes chemicals in ratios.

Someone who works in a sweatshop adjusts the sewing machine tension using gear ratios.

Sure they don't need the mathematical training of an engineer or architect, but math is not some artificial construct. It is part of the real world.

Any job you have, you should at least be able to figure out whether your pay packet is actually equivalent to the hourly rate promised, less taxes, otherwise you are going to get "tooken."
Even inheriting money implies math, so your accountants don't take you for a ride.
