you will love it i stayed in lamai at the samui beach resort you can get a bungalow with adjoining door to eachothers room, really nice place, pool is basic but rooms are clean and huge and the people there are great. We ended up going back again after Koh Tao. Its only 100 baht to lamai town or a 10 min walk down the beach

I know of a place where you could share a cosy room with all the trimmings (shared big double bed though) for 600 baht a knight.

look for one on arrival you can barter about 500 baht per night for both of you.
