In cases where the disease of addiction is present there are often times where another disorder is happening at the same time. Addiction is considered a mental illness. Depression is also a mental illness, when a patient is living with both the patient is referred to as having a co-occurring disorder or co-occurring mental illness. It is rare to see alcoholics or addicts that do not have symptoms of: depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and/or trauma symptoms... It depends on the context you use it in. In the U.S. Army it can mean Company or the Commanding Officer of a unit. In the fire service we use it as either meaning Carbon Monoxide and I have seen it used for a Company Officer. CO can also stand for County. Hopefully I listed one of the meanings for the context you were looking for.
