In laboratories, mice or guinea pigs and sometimes even other animals are used as "research material". Do you think we as humans have the right to perform such an act in the name of science? For our own advancement, perhaps?

If it is to save life, its a necessary evil. For example, if it is to find a drug, or test a drug, that will cure cancer or polio or something, it is ethically viable. I personally don't believe in testing on animals for cosmetic drugs/products. Other scientific testing falls into a kind of grayer area.

Yes. Such experiments were used to develop insulin. Even today, horses are the primary source of the drug.

The millions of diabetics who have lead healthy, happy lives since then are more than enough justification to perform such experiments on animals.

In addition, McDonalds and other fast food restaurants have served billions or products made from animals that were killed in slaughterhouses.

Ever been to a slaughterhouse? Despite claims to the contrary, they are far from "humane" because the animals all know they are about to die.

If you eat animal products, you participate in far more carnage than scientific experiments could ever produce.

If you do not eat animal products, you must obtain Thiamine from pills made from animals. Otherwise you will develop a Thiamine deficiency ("BeriBeri") and die.

Arbitrarily selecting one of the many forms of slaughtering animals in order to support a political agenda is hypocrisy.

If there were no humans on earth the predators of the world would be eating mice and guinea pigs. Would you say they have the "right" to do that? They do it to survive.

We create medicines and medical treatments to survive. Do I think this should be done in a humane way? yes. Do I think the feelings of small animals (who's purpose in the land food chain is that of plankton in the ocean) should come before research that could save human lives? no.

A "maximum suitable" is conferred by making use of regulation, and clearly the countless labs have the main suitable or the government might cause them to end what they are doing. Now, is it humane? veritably no longer. Is it morally, for loss of an stronger be conscious, maximum suitable? possibly, at times, if making use of animals as try matters to strengthen new and/or greater clever drugs. to accomplish that in the manufacture of cosmetics, on no account. Like a lot of contemporary subject concerns, there is basically no straightforward answer.

Not entirely. But we have evolved into the dominate species on the planet, thus we feel that we have the right to treat other living things as lower life forms... but in reality every living thing is made up of the same thing. So just because you have the means to do something doesn't mean you have the right.

I don't think we have the right...but for our own survival its necessary..i don't entirely agree on it...but if sacrificing some animals to help find a cure for cancer or aids is necessary then I would agree to it because who would we rather have die...mice or possibly a really sick mother, father, aunt dying from aids, cancer etc....

This question belongs in the section on philosophy, since different people will have different opinions and there really is no "correct" answer.
