Thanks "What?"

I didnt know they were originally called "The Pink Floyd Sound" that makes sense now.

The reason for my asking was two fold.

Firstly, on the Album "More" it sais

"Played and Composed by "The Pink Floyd" (dropping the sound)

Then secondly, on BBC radio today, they claimed that the official name was "The Pink Floyd" and not "Pink Floyd". They were quite adament about this.

The Pink Floyd Sound (or Experience) was the bands first name (with Syd and David wasn't around yet). Syd Barret and Roger Waters picked the name because of two blues musicians they liked (look up on the web yourself for more details), and use to play @ the UFO club (a pscyadelic club in London in the late 60's) where they where the house band. Soon after, Jimi Hendrix (who just came over to London and was really pissed off cause he had to open for The Monkeys) met Syd and Pink Floyd (the name the now used) opened for Jimi... and the rest is acid history...

NEW- hey man, never knew that it was "THE Pink Floyd"- always thought it was just 'Pink Floyd'... ya learn something new every day on the web, I tells ya.... thanks for that info, bro... cheers...
