Okay, so I use my dishwasher on occasion. However, when it is not in use, clean water slowly seeps into the drain area and it just sits there. Why does it do that and how do I fix it? Thanks~

The most common cause of this is the dishwasher drain hose. If it's connected to your sink drain, then every time you use the sink, some of the water goes down the drain hose and back into the dishwasher. To stop this, part of the drain hose must be higher than the point where it hooks into the sink drain, then the water can't flow uphill to get to your dishwasher.

Troy has it right. If the dishwasher drain hose is not connected to an air break the hose must rise higher than the bottom of the sink. This will prevent water syphoning back into the dishwasher.

You might check under a counter top to see if there is a cut-off valve to your washer. Just turn it off. I don't have such a valve, but I don't have this problem. Check to see if, once you have soaked up the water that seeps in, it is a perpetual drip, not just leftover water in the line after a washing. Seems to me that water flow ought to stop. Is this a problem that just started? If so, what event could have started the drip? Good luck.
