yes it is... when the soviet union was fire saleing their assets after the collapse of communism, you could buy the MIR for just over a million dollars (unreal considering the billions it most likely cost them)

The station existed until March 23, 2001, at which point it was deliberately de-orbited, and broke apart during atmospheric re-entry.
