No draft. Draftees serve half as long as enlisted. The cost of training is too much. If they are professionals, you don't get as many cry babies.

Even though the press says that we are going to start withdrawing troops soon from Iraq, there are other things in the world brewing such as North Korea and Iran. I feel that we are on the brink of another large scale, or world war. If I had to take a stab in the dark, I would say that the draft will be reinstated by the end of the next year unless we get another president who is willing to leave the other countries alone and let them do what they want.

A realalistic answer would be if we had an open war start with IRAN we would be close but I doubt the numbers would be at risk. SO I think Iran and at least any other country of any size. Iran and Korea I would say would be teetering very close. Than we must look at numbers. Ye sthey are down but we are always down. We could always have more troops.

Nowhere near it. We can barely sustain political will to continue the war with an all volunteer force. Suggestions for a draft will be soundly defeated and whoever suggests it will be very quickly voted out of office.

very close -- returning soldiers are being sent back to iraq for the first time - that means that there are not enough people signing on voluntarily. When the US invades Iran then there will be a draft for sure
