Its society and the media's fault. One minute their bitching that people are to fat the next they're to skinny. For example take Charlotte church they have a go at her for being fat when the average dress size of a woman in the UK is a size 16. If you see a celebrity with a tiny tummy the media makes it seem like they are the size of an elephant, its pathetic. Then they have a go at someone like posh and says she's to skinny, but at the same time show a picture of her with some cellulite, they just add fuel to the fire.
Celebrities are always in the public eye and due to this i think they feel pressured to try and be perfect, and in doing so turn into walking skeletons so they don't get bad press saying that they're chubby. Its a vicious circle. No body's perfect and they never will be, doesn't matter how skinny, fat, rich or poor you are. Sooner they realise that the better and the better role models they'll make for girls who look up to them.

The main reason is because of tabloids, they are evil and if they see a little bit of cellulite, a roll or anything they will publish the celebrity all over the papers/magazines.
Also with fashion being a big part of their life (red carpets etc) most fashion designers will only create up to a certain size and if the celeb isn't in shape they probably won't let them wear the outfit (bad publicity).

Peer pressure to be skinny. They are in the public eye, they want to look skinny. Probably when they hear/read comments that they are fat, it makes them want to lose weight.

Its because if there not skinny they will be called fat and it really hurts peoples feelings when you call someone fat so I think that there doing this because they think its cool and makes them feel like there in the spotlight and because they don't want there feelings hurt.

Trying to fit into the style selections of the clothes~ They have set sizes and they have a so called IMAGE~ Until it gets out of hand and then they look really sick~

Sometimes especially in the summer they are just more active and lose a few lbs from that. Or when they are on the job ACTING or DANCING or SINGING leaves little time to eat right.

after the invention of "0" size jeans for the skinny peeps they came up with "00" size jeans....now they all trying to fit into that one....
