What's the infrared port on the psp used for and how do you use it?

It is used for the remote attachment you can buy for it. As you watch videos you can use it.

you can transfer data over infrared port by lining up two ports together. I have never see anyone ever use an IR port for anything other than for one of the pokemon games.

Two of my friends had IR ports on their computers and they found each other one day. Not sure for security it taht is a good thing.
