Well, worst crashes aren't always the crashes that took lives, but obviously the biggest, worst, and most tragic were those that cost the sport some of the best.. Yeah, a lot of times we look back and say..how did it happen, but obviously something in the wreck was bad enough..

Dale Sr at Daytona

Adam Petty & Kenny Irwin at New Hampshire

Neil Bonnett at Daytona

The accident at the 600 in Charlotte that took Fireball Roberts. Didn't see it personally, but all the descriptions of it, esp those who witnessed it make it sound unbelievabley brutal..

Tiny Lund at Dega

Now for those that have been able to walk away:

Jeff Gordon at Pocono. Man that was a serious lick.

JR at dega in like 2003, I think. OUCH!

Nadeu at Richmond

Ernie Irvan at MIS

Kasey Kahne at this year's Brickyard

Elliot Sadler's Talledega Tumble

Jeff Burton earlier in 05 at Bristol

Steve Park

Tony Stewart.. I was beginning to wonder if he was going to be able to keep all 4 tires on the ground at all this season. His Busch series accident (flip and roll at Dega) was scarier looking, but wasn't the one that did the shoulder in.. And then all of his off-circuit racing..

Richard Petty.. uhmm, well he's had a few, but the one that there was nothing, and I mean, nothing left of his car was pretty insane

Okay, there have been PLENTY PLENTY more.. heck, there was a really bad Busch one earlier this year, and I can't even remember anymore (which kind of annoys me...b/c sometimes they don't even really make a big deal when the Busch/Truck or Arca series driver's are injured/released from the hospital or whatever.) Like I said, you could write an entire book on the subject, but these are the ones that stick out most in my mind right now based on impact alone.

They used to keep track, well they still do, about how it records on black boxes..but the information is kept pretty quiet, b/c most of the driver's don't want it released.

1 - Dale Earnhardt Sr's crash in the 2001 Daytona 500
2 - the crash that killed Neil Bonnett
3 - the crash that killed Clifford Allison
4 - the crashe that killed Richard Petty's grandson Adam Petty
5. Possibly the crash between Dale Jr and Steve Park like 4 years ago. That was crazy because at the time they were both teammates and Steve Park was seriously hurt.

Another crash that really opened the sponsors' eyes is the crash that Dale Jr had back in 2004 in the Corvette out in California for that race. That crash made a lot of sponsors limit how many events that their driver could do outside of Nascar. Dale Jr himself admitted that after that crash that Budweiser cut down on what he could and could not do.

1.) Dale Earnhardt Sr. at Daytona when he died
2.) Adam Petty at a practice in New Hampshire...fourth generation petty
3.) Tony Roper during a Truck Series race

There are many more deaths at small tracks each year that don't get the same publicity at these when in all reality, some are much worse. Just a thought

I would say those that killed people as well.

But as for non-fatal ones I'd have to go with Jr's in the corvette and E-Sad's at Dega a few years ago. And Scott Riggs at... Daytona? I think it was Daytona. That's about all I can think of now.
