FIRST YOU NEED TO KEEP A LOG OF EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE EATING AND KEEP TRACK BECAUSE LITTLE SNACKS ADDUP, THEN MAKE A HEALTHY MENU FOR FOOD CHOICES, AND LET YOUR MOM KNOW YOU WANT HELP AND IM SURE SHE WOULD ASSIST, BUT DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF IT WILL ONLY LAST SO LONG AND THEN YOU WILL EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT EAT SMALL HEALTHY MEALS AND SNACKS AT LEAST 6 TIMES A DAY CUT BACK ON MOST SWEETS KEEP YOUR FAVORITE ONES FOR LIKE ONCE A WEEK AS A TREAT AND GET WALKING START SLOW AND EASY ADD A LITTLE BIT EVERY DAY AND PRETTY SOON YOU WILL BE RUNNING BUT DEFINATELY KEEP A JOURNAL I WENT THRU A SIMILAR SITUATION WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE IT IS AN AKWARD STAGE AND THERE IS ALOT OF PRESSURE TO BE THIN. NOBODY HAS A PERFECT BODY ITS ALL ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF. LOOK AT WEIGHT WATCHERS.COM FOR RECIPES OR GOOGLE HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES TO YOUR FAVORITE MEALS. I BEGAN BY CUTTING OUT JUST SODA(COCA COLA) AND I LOST A QUICK 15 POUNDS, YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED TO SEE HOW EASILY WE DRINK A LOT OF CALORIES. DRINK LOTS OF WATER TOO. GOOD LUCK AND BE OPTIMISTIC, PEOPLE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE SO ITS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, I AM NOW 24 AND HAVE MAINTAINED A SIZE 4-6 FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS NOW, ITS HARD WORK BUT SO REWARDING!

I'm not sure I have any advice you haven't heard a thousand times. One thing lots of people don't understand about overweight people is that they already KNOW how to lose weight. In fact, you are probably VERY well educated on what you're supposed to do to be healthy. You must expend more calories than you take in. 3200 calories equals one pound. End of story. You already know all this.

Being able to do that is a different story.

I lost a significant amount of weight twice in my life. The first time, I got up to 255 (I'm 5'4") and went to see a physician who prescribed phentermine for me. I do NOT recommend this. The stuff made me FREAK...no sleeping, no eating, completely hyper, irritable, edgy, crying all the time. It also killed my appetite. I exercised like mad because I was so hyper. I got down to 170.

The second time I was up to 290 and had gastric bypass surgery. I am now maintaining a weight of 136 pounds (don't let anyone tell you that 140 pounds is "fat").

Oh, and I am 36 years old. I was not overweight as a young person, so we have very different situations.

I think one of the things you are going to have to deal with, which is VERY hard is learning to like yourself the way you are. You are NOT the sum of your pounds. You have other qualities...other parts of your appearance, other things about you, talents, personality traits. It's so easy when you have a weight problem to ALWAYS define yourself by your weight.

The reason I think this is important is because you have to CARE enough about yourself before you feel worthy of going through the hard work it takes to lose weight for yourself. Does that make any sense?

Moving is HARD when you're more than 50 pounds overweight. But it's important to find some form of exercise that you really enjoy. Especially if it gets you out of the house, is social, and makes you feel good about yourself.

Prior to having weight loss surgery, I made a list of all the thigns I planned to do when I was thinner. Cross my legs, climb rocks, wear skirts, etc. This might be powerful motivation for you...I still have that list and now I can do everything on it!

Please hang in there and don't let anyone teach you to hate yourself. Good luck!

Ok... First off... Start watching the calories on foods. MOST PEOPLE do not realize how many calories they eat... Limit yourself to 1500-1800 calories a day, and you will dramatically lose weight. Stop drinking soda unless its diet soda with NO calories, and drink lots of water. But weight gain is caused by calorie intake exceeding the ammt of calories lost in a day. So if you dont do much physical activity then you need to eat less calories... Which is still fine. You can eat 3 lean cuizines a day for all 3 meals and be under 1000 calories still. Good luck

At 15 you really need to be careful and lose the weight slowly so that you don't set yourself up to rebound back and forth for the rest of your life. Eat healthy low fat but do make sure that your are at least eating things that you find enjoyable. You don't want to end up associating dieting with dread. I know it's tempting but when you have finished what's on your plate, wait 10 to 20 minutes before eating more. This gives your body time to actually feel full. If eat fast you can really end up eating far more than you need to be satisfied. Walking is a good way to burn off extra weight and it also gives you time to think about other issues that will make you feel better about yourself and the things that you are doing. Good luck.

I am telling you this for YOU because I have struggled with my weight since I was 13! I have never been 220 but I know women who have and the southbeach diet has worked wonders for them. Excercise is great too but you will lose even if you don't more much if you try the southbeach diet AND it is so much easier to move once you lose just 20 pounds. Please pick the book up at BDalton or Barnes and Noble and give it a shot!

Just eat healthy. Eat alot more natural foods. Fruits and veggies are always the obvious ones.
Try cutting out diary and white sugar and most carbs.

Start walking around teh block everyday or 3-4 times a week. Walking burns alot. Don't do anything stupid or drastic like not eating because that is actually worse for your health than being heavy.

Just watch what you put in your body stay away from processed foods and take little steps, like if you have the choice of stairs and exculator take the stairs.
And find something you like to do that gets you moving. Like I started playing dance dance revolution on my PS2 and it burns so many calories its not even funny.

I'm also 15, and I've been trying to loose. The best way to do it, is diet and daily exercise. It does take time. It won't all melt away, and sometimes that's frustrating, but don't give up. I've been going for about a month now, and I've lost almost 12 pounds. Good luck!

Cardio Exercise and a diet full of lean proteins, whole grains, vitamins and minerals. Take up some exercise that you enjoy, some people like running, martial arts, swimming, biking, hiking, aerobics, dancing, or really anything that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat. You can have the foods you love if you limit how often and what size your portions are. However on a diet of lean proteins, lots of fruit and vegetables, and whole grains you can eat as much as you want. You will get fuller faster and stay that way longer.

I'm 30 and have had to lose weight after 2 pregnancys, and before I could go to basic training for the Army at 18. I started to eat right-a little of everything at the right portions. It takes a while to get in the habit-but keep with it you will feel better. EXCERSIZE, EXCERSIZE, EXCERSIZE. You get in the habit now, it will be easier to keep it up as you get older. Of course-SEE YOUR DOCTOR OR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL IF YOU HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS BEFORE STARTING AN EXCERSIZE PROGRAM. I started with walking and then jogging. Weight lifting is important too-more muscle burns more calories. You can buy cheap weights at K-mart,Wal-Mart, etc. For abs do crunches-wich in turn helps your back muscles. Don't go for fad diets or starvation diets-pleanty of fruits and vegetables-easy on sweets and fats. Variety is key-so is moderation. I hope this helps-hang in there-If I can do it-SO CAN YOU.
