I don't know, I'll admit that i've done it once or twice myself. i guess it's because we just don't want to make a hard decision ourselves, so we rely on the coin. Oddly enough, if the coins lands on what i head, but i was hopping for tails, i choose tails anyway.

To make a decision with the flip of a coin: is the easiest and quickest way to come to a decision...without much compromise or indecisiveness

They flip a coin to find out what they really want. If they aren't completely happy with what it lands on, they choose the other side.

If you're unhappy with the decision that the coin makes for then that means you really wanted it the other way around. Sometimes the coin forces you to realize what you really want!

Trusting to luck, in the old days there were many gods of luck or good fortune.
To do a 'random act' as a guide was to trust the guidance of that particular god.
Its just a nicelittle quirk from the past that stays with us.

They want both. I like to take decisions throw them up in the air, spin them around, look at them from front to back, and roughly 24-90 hours later, I will have the answer.

Some folks on the other hand, are "Ready, FIRE!!, Aim." types, god bless em.

Because they really don't care what they are going with, and they don't want to feel bad about themselves if they choose the wrong path, so this way, if their plan back-fires, they can always blame it on the coin.

I suppose it depends on how difficult the question is and how much the decision will affect the outcome. It leaves a lot to chance

It works in football is all I know..decides who gets to receive first. Other than that I guess life is just a 50-50 deal anyway.
