Why did nurses stop wearing those funny hats, that look like Chinese food boxes turned inside out??

My personal opinion: Comfort. Nursing used to be a very noble profession, and they took great pride in their appearance--all the way from their "chinese food box" hats to their white dresses, white stockings and white shoes. Nowadays, they all wear scrubs and you couldn't tell a Registered Nurse from a janitor if they were walking down the hall if it weren't for their name badge. So sad.

In the really old days, the hat was unique to the school or hospital where the nurse was trained. Every school and teaching hospital had its own hat style.

well, coming from a nurse I will tell you that they are not practical. I'm not sure if that is the actual reason, but having had to wear one during school, I can tell you that they often come loose and fall off, which is not very good when dealing with infection control issues

Eww as a M.A, i could no longer even think of attempting to maintain that white outfit sparkling. you will desire to keep in mind we take care of human beings vomiting, bleeding, pus and all that gross stuff. to boot working in simple terms approximately 12 hours an afternoon at an pressing Care in a skirt and a freaking hat on my head, i do no longer think of i'd desire to do it.
