Some say it is reliable; others say it isn't at all.

I was interested in possibly going for a consultation, to see for myself how it is, but thought I would ask if anyone has any experiences to share.

Thank you.

I see a Naturopath in Michigan who does iridology. She's amazingly accurate. In fact, I've referred clients to her with instructions that they not tell her about broken bones and other imbalances; and she always picks up on them. It's really pretty cool to try at least once.

I've got a book on it somewhere, but can't put my hands on it right now. Iridology was discovered by a medical professional who was treating an owl for a broken leg. He happened to notice a dark line in the 6 o'clock position in the owl's eye. As the leg healed, the dark line disappeared. He then started mapping the eyes, using his patient's imbalances as guidance. That's the story in a nutshell.

Opus is completely wrong. A friend of mine is an iridologist and has been so for about 25 years. As any medical practice, it is not a perfect science. My aunt's Medical Doctor said that my friend is 94-95% accurate in what she diagnoses. That is pretty good. I have gone in there with back problems and without telling her, she pointed right to the spot with her finger. She diagnosed my neighbor who suspected she might have MS, that indeed she did not have MS, but had another medical problem that mimicked MS. When my neighbor went to the doctor to have the blood test done, the blood test revealed that she did not have MS and that what the iridologist said was true. I don't think that even the medical field is even that good. She charges nothing for her services.

The person can tell you all sorts of stuff about your health simply by looking at your irises. I went and was told I had scoliosis. Later it was confirmed by an M.D. I could go on but you get the picture. It can't hurt, and it might help.

Iridology is not a useful diagnostic technique, producing results no better than guessing. Its use is therefore misleading, with a large risk of false-positive and false-negative diagnosis leading to inappropriate treatment or failure to treat.
