The Big toe is...it is also the strongest. If one should lose one its not too bad, if you should lose both then the balance of the body has to be compensated by walking on the instep with g8 difficulty. But their is a way to make sure that you do walk as per norm and that is by having special shoes made which allow you to walk with ease.

Your big toe is. My brother had a friend that shot off his big toe just to keep from having to go to Vietnam. I had surgery on my big toe and I have no feeling it and I am very clumsy because of not very good balance.

don't waste money going to the doctor for a broken toe. they can do nothing for it other than wrap it and the toe next to it together to keep it from moving. when I broke mine, I broke 2 of them at one time, I popped them back into place, then wore a platform pair of shoes to keep me from bending the toe for about 6 weeks. Ice it down to take the swelling out, and take tylenol for the pain. that is what the doctors will tell you to do. been there, done that.

The large toe, my dad fractured his & the middle 2 tried to make up for it and his balance has never been right after that.
He had to go thru surgery to try to correct it, but it really wasn't effective.

Does it matter? Tell your work mates that you'll give a tenner to the first one to chop a toe off to prove it. That should stop the debate.
