3 nights ago I went to the ER and the doctor said I was dilated to a 2 and they said I was having contractions. I tried to watch the monitor and remember exactly what I was feeling when the hill formed but it all seemed the same. The doctor said I'm having contractions in my back. They sent me home 12 hrs later and after many shots to stop the contractions and pain and told me that if I had more contractions or symptoms to come back, well now my back is killing me again, but I don't know if it is contractions or not. I am only 32 weeks today and I feel soo bad. I don't want to go to the hospital for another night if nothing is wrong. Can someone explain to me please. I know they say back contractions don't feel like the cramps most women experience.

First of all, take heart that you and your baby will be just fine. My wife had a similar situation, my son was born at 30 weeks, and he is doing just fine (now 16 months later). We were sent home from the hospital after a brief stay with premature contractions also, but were back there the next day. It's a good thing we went back because my wife was having regular contractions and she would be in the hospital for the next 3 days before giving birth.

The biggest key is to get to the hospital. If you are indeed having contractions and your baby is on its way, you need to give the hospital enough time to get some steroids to the baby. He/She is likely in the stage of forming a pair of lungs, and a couple days worth of steroids can do wonders for his/her health. They may have you a little drugged up during that time to delay labor as long as possible, but it will be well worth it.

Even if your baby comes this early, the NICU area in your hospital will be able to give him/her all the care that he/she needs, and you will have some time to recover before bringing the baby home. It's a scary ordeal, but you'll be fine.

Good luck, and get back to the hospital!!

Everyone experiences contractions differently. If you are not feeling well, and something is not quite right, GO!

If you are in labor and your cervix is dilating, you NEED to get treated to either stop the labor, or if that's not possible you need to be where they can save your baby's life. Babies born at 32 weeks need medical assistance. Better to go and it turns out everything's OK than stay home and have to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance later and risk losing your baby...

You are very likely contracting again. Please go back to the ER. It is best to hold off delivery until 36 weeks if at all possible. If you wait too long, they may not be able to stop things this time. If your baby is born now, they can survive, of course, but may have respiratory distress. The lungs are likely not fully developed. Good luck to you! Get yourself to the ER sooner than later. Don't wait, even to take a shower!

if they are real contractions you will feel them move from your back to your stomach and tighten depending on the level of pain you can handle you may think they are not big deal but when they are continous and 5 minutes apart is when you should go to the doctor of course you are 2 months from due so if you get strong contractions at regular intervals of time even if there exactly 30 min or an hour apart go to the hospitial and have your labor stopped if they can because you do not want to have your baby this early. wishing you well.

My contractions started out feeling like stomach or intestinal cramps, then my back started to ache. I had been having them for about 4 hours before I realized they were coming at regular intervals. You should probably go back to the doctor, you wouldn't want to wait too long and deliver a premature baby at home. Better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

I always get my contractions in my lower, Well I did with all 4 of my kids. Just watch the clock, If they come and go every 10 to 5 minutes and they really hurt, then go to the hospital. Walking around helps to make them come more fast

it sounds to me you might be in back labor i had that with both my kids. Don't feel bad about going to the hospital they told you to come back right? so go to the hospital just to be on the safe side you are still only 32 weeks if at worst they will admit you to the hospital for observation. congrats on the new little one!

i would go to the emergency room if you feel the same way you did that put you there in the first place you shoud because 32 weeks is too early and if you dont stop the contractions fast enough they wont be able to stop them so go to the emergency room asap....

whatever you are feeling....time it! sounds like early labor. being you are only 32 weeks take your rear end back to ER! i'd rather you get sent home feeling silly then you to have the baby fall out while you are at home!!
