The first thing I thought about was what anton said, but if it didn't hurt like your regular eyes then it wouldn't be so bad. I'm a sculptor and I often think about what it would be like if I were blind. In that case, my finger tips WOULD be my eyes and I would probably still sculpt.
But I think it would be more useful if we had more sensitive chemo-receptors in our fingertips so we could explore the taste and smell things more fully. Sometimes I wish Dakota (my dog) had fingers so he wouldn't have to lick and sniff everything to learn about it.
Someday soon I bet they will find a way to implant different kinds of sensors into the fingertips to make certain people's jobs easier, like for CSI forensic teams or airport security workers.
But for now the cameras they have are getting pretty small. You could mount one on your finger tip and wear those glasses with tiny computer screens in them to see what you were touching. There could even be a microscope attachment that would help you to examine things much more closely. Cool question!

As a teacher, I would love to have fingers in many places, except my fingers, because when I correct lots, lots of paper, and that means paper cuts, you know how fast I would be injured at the job. But I think it would be very cool to have eyes in the back of my head!! You know how many things happen in the classroom when we teachers turn around!! Great and Odd Question!!!!

Mate it wuld be sooo much fun! It'd be like wooooowwww!!!!

U could do so much! I was thinking of illegal things u culd do.. like cheating on a test or trying to check sum1 elses password.
But that would be naughty.
Unforunately if these 'finger-eyes' were the same sensitivity as our normal eyes then it would hurt to touch and pick stuff up..
That's the only downside i can think of..

Well, I guess you couldn't poke yourself in the eye then.

You'd have to be very careful, as eyes are easily damaged by things fingers are not. And it would be hard to find a pair of safety glasses to fit them.
