She was an employee of the Kennedys. She went with the other employees to a party that the Kennedys had. When it was over she got a ride home with married Teddy Kennedy. He missed a turn while driving and went off a bridge. He swam to shore and did not rescue her until he went for help the next AM. The resulting controversy over what she was doing with him that night in his car, whether he was too drunk to drive, whether he tried to save her but wasn't a good swimmer, and whether he waited to tell until he was sober, doomed his Presidential ambitions. Of course the two political parties have opposite views on whether he was good or bad.

Wonder if she got paid to discredit someone. Like recent events. Someone that would have been tuff to beat when he ran for presidency. Don't think any bargained for what happened, but some got much more than hoped for.
