Does anyone know what's a good, cheap, bagless vacuum cleaner to purchase? I don't need one heavy-duty, but good enough to clean up food crumbs and such out of carpets.

Bissel, they sell at wal-mart for about $40. They will last awhile, if you keep the brush clean, change the belt periodically.
