A brilliant gift. Music in the early years helps form the intellect. The parents should be able to cope and set limits on when the drum is to be played. And children tend to drum on things no matter whether they have permission or not. So at least you'll help the lucky kid make good sound!

I absolutely believe they ought to have spoken with you about this first. In my opinion you don't give children loud and obnoxious toys without confirming it with the person whom they reside with, especially if you expect said toy/item to be stored in someones home that is not your own. It seems as though you and the bio parents have a strong relationship if the kids see them so frequently. If the Bio parents really wanted to get the kids these things, why could they not have kept them at their place? I also happen to think that you should take the drums and guitar away if he's been at it for six hours. If nothing else they are under your roof, with your rules. If something is so obtrusive and obnoxious, limit their time with the gifts.

We all know you meant well but it makes good sense to consult the parents, otherwise the gift may just be put away without the kid ever seeing it. That would be a waste of money. If you haven't given it to him yet, include the receipt- that'll be a very proper thing to do and all will be okay. Hope this helps you.

Definitely. Yes. they're the ones you have to endure the noise now.

Next purchase you make should be immediately -- dampers for the drums.

Not if you want the kid to enjoy life. I bought my nephew a Glock for Christmas, do you think there's any way my sister would have let the little bastard have a .45cal if I'd asked?!?!? Hell NO!
