the instructions for the clicker (by clicker i mean "clicker" - the UNIVERSAL REMOTE - not the remote that comes with the garage door opener) tell me to match the codes from one remote to the other, but the genie intellicode remote does not have "codes" and neither does the actual garage door opener or the wall mount have one. whta do i do?

Its been a while but here goes. on the back of the opener unit there should be a little red or white button. get on a small ladder and take the remote with you. Press the button on the opener unit until the light beside it starts flashing, then press your remote button. The two will synch up together and then the door will work. Hopefully

Will work if your Clicker has a micro learn button in the battery compartment.

Procedure:

1) Hold the program button on the Clicker till it turns orange and the light is solid

2) Press the programmed button of the Genie opener remote and at the same time press the button on clicker that you want to program repeatably on / off.

3) Press the learn button on the Clicker once to lock signal.

4) Take Clicker to Garage and press programmed button. LED on Genie Receiver will match blink of your Clicker LED. If not, repeat steps 2 - 4. Still need one more step before door opens.

5) If all is successful, then press learn button on Genie Receiver once, the LED light on the receiver turns solid, hold Clicker programmed button release and press once more.

6) Once Receiver LED goes out, test your button. My instructions are not exact, but will provide another avenue to try. It worked on two of my Clickers.

It was Maureen's answer that lead me to explore till success.

"Clicker" remotes DO work with Genie Intellicode door openers. Just follow Maureens instructions and you'll be fine. I did.

it works, all you have to do is:

1) hold the program button on the clicker till it turns orange and the light is solid

2) press the button on the opener motor its self and the light will be blinking

3) press the open/close button on the clicker the (light will flash fast) once it stays solid again look at the opener motor, if the light is still blinking repeat but only press the clicker button 1 time per try.

4) once the light on the motor turns solid, press the clicker's program button once. (the light on the motor may or may not go out at this point)

5) Test your button and reassemble the opener motor.

It worked on mine, the instruction manual doesnt list the motor light staying solid when proper code is found.

Here is what I did.

1. Press program button on the clicker until LED lights.

2. Press and release the Smart/Learn Button on the motor unit.

3. Select a button to program. Press button 6 times ensuring LED stops flashing after each press.

4. Press program button.

5. Wait for LED to go out on the motor.

6. Press selected button to test.

Clicker products are not compatible with Genie "Intellicode" systems. The Clicker will only work with Genie systems that use either 9 or 12 dipswitches to set the code. Intellicode systems do not use the dipswitches.

Genie has instructions on its website.
Just choose the type for your opener.
