I am wondering what is the best approach or plan to attract
sponsorship for a local Pro Stock race team in the Oklahoma
City, OK region?

Put a portfolio together, target potential sponsors and go knocking on doors.

You need to do some homework. The main thing the sponsor is going to want to know is 'what is in this for me'. The sponsor is going to know how much exposure the company is going to get by sponsoring your race car. How many people are in the grandstands? How many races per year? Etc.
You will also have to have some type of plan for your own operation so they know you won't just take their money and run.

Put together a presentation and get out and sell,sell,sell. You have to prove that you're worth spending the money on. Don't forget to tell them what they get for their $ i.e. what size ad on your car.
