Baby showers are usually later in the pregnancy but may be earlier or happen after the baby is born for various reasons.
My sister did mine early because I was moving far from most of my family. Near the end of pregnancy is common because then you can actually see belly, sometimes movement, and possibly know the baby's gender. Also the danger of miscarriage is a lot lower than earlier. After the baby is born is usually when the parents might only need clothes for a boy or the mother had a rough pregnancy that limited her mobility. I also may be getting another baby shower because many of my in-laws live near where I currently live and want to get my family stuff as well.
You may be able to encourage cooperation by suggesting when is a good time for you. Offer them a choice of dates that you think you'll be up to socializing (this is an appropriate time to take advantage of people expecting you to be tired). Be sure that the dates are far enough into the future that people can make plans and do shopping though.

Don't worry, you still have time. Showers are usually 4-6 weeks before the baby's due date, and it is polite to mail invitations two weeks before the shower. There are all kinds of fun options though if you don't get a traditional shower. Check out your local bookstore for ideas on baby showers. They can even be done online or through the mail!

About 1 or 1 1/2 months before due date. However, I had a friend who was expecting twins, and knew they would probably be early, so they had the baby shower in November when she was due in February.

It's usually 6-8 weeks before the due date, sometimes 4 weeks before.

Baby showers should be a month to two month before due date. If they can't make up their minds, you can pick the dates for them. And say it would be easier for you pregnancy if they do it on this day and time. They can do the rest.

It is typically two months before the baby is due. It should be this way for two reasons...

In case you have the baby early, so the shower is still before the baby.

So you can have time to go out and get what you didn't get at the shower.

Usually it isn't until later in your pregnancy. If you are going to find out what it is first, that's always nice because then you can tell people to buy either girl or boy things. Usually people have then around the 7th or 8th month (when your belly is obvious!) Anytime after the 5th month is usually ok (then you have more time to return/exchange things before the baby is born).

Good luck and congrats!!

it really depends on when you feel comfortable having it, normally women have their showers towards the end of their pregnancy but some moms can't because of the stress of the baby. Have it whenever you feel is best for you. There is really no set date or time when you need to have it, some women will have it as early as 5 months, others have it after because of the complications that occur to them during their pregnancy, it's entirely up to you.

I am having one at 6 weeks and 5 weeks before. I keep getting scared that that is not enough time for me to have anything ready. As of now I am already having signs of preterm labor and that is stressing the situation even more. I would have liked to have them at least two months before..so I wouldnt spazz out..lol. But I wouldnt wait to long because you never know what is going to happen.
